The 2009 fishing season will be very interesting for the team.  The economy, swine flu, and a humpback whale have significantly affected the spring tournament season in Mexico. The IGT and WCBRT events in Cabo in May have been postponed or cancelled due to poor participation, a direct result of the economy and swine flu scares. Even if these events took place, the collision between the Team Bad Company 60 Viking BCE “Badger” and a humpback whale off Cabo in February would have held the team out of these events anyway.  With the Badger out of commission  for several months, Captain Steve Lassley will head to Kona for the summer, searching for the prized “grander” 1,000 pound blue marlin aboard the 45 Rybovich “Nai’a.”  While in Kona, the team will compete in the Blue Marlin World Cup  on July 4th, followed by the Maui Jim Firecracker Open.  Steve will remain in Kona through August before returning to California.  With the status of Badger uncertain for September, Team bad Company will not be competing as a team in the Catalina marlin tournaments this year.  Anthony will be joining Corey Myers and the crew of Bandit, a 60 Viking BCE for the series.  Steve Lassley will fish aboard the 54 BCE Chaser for the Penn Zane Grey Invitational. Steve will be pre fishing with a couple lucky tournament teams leading up to the Catalina Classic, but will not fish this event this year.  With luck, Badger will be fully repaired and available to fish the Cabo October events including the Bisbee’s and Los Cabos Billfish Tournament.  Then it will be off to Puerto Vallarta and other mainland Mexico and Central American locations, working along with EPYC mother ship Pacific Provider.
