Field of Dreams... 120 feet of BCE

20 years ago, I was fishing from a 25 Foot Cabo cuddycon with twin 150 Yamahas that I towed here every year.  Fast forward 20 years....
Dow down 35% this year as I'm watching Bush speak this morning about our economy.  Banks lacking liquidity, consumers lacking confidence, unemployement growing....
San Diego bay is home to a great stock of bone fish, the bay is ideal for kids and introducing kids to fishing with calm waters and lots of action.  Barry Brightenburg introduced me to Bone Fish several years ago.  My kids all know that uncle Barry is th Bone fish man...
BADGER and CROW'S NEST (blue hull) on the water fishing this weekend. Steve calls me from Badger on the way down, "The Dorados are so thick here, it's impossible to fish for anything else. There are thousand of them everywhere. Good fishin on way down. Wahoo etc....Had a Blue try to eat a Wahoo right at the boat 400+. Swam around for a while". Half Day Run on the Contender 38

Went out for a half day with the family and had a blast with a 2 hour full stop on YFT...

4 time zones in 3 days!

On my way back from China, stopped in Kona for a day and a half, now in Michigan.  My body does not know what time it is....flying back in 36 hours and boarding the Contender 38 Friday afternoon, hoping 50 knots can get me to the Crow's Nest fishing round up at San Clemente in time for the check in.

My China trip--first 24 hours

After a short 24 hours, this Chinese-American has been changed forever. The scale of this country, along with it's impressive business growth and it's rich history, has had a major impact on me.  Although this is not a fishing story, I think most of you will find this post interesting and worthy of your time.

Day 18 in Kona...

July 25th. 18 fishing days thus far, 11 hour days.  Fish did not show well on the full moon, but went ballistic today.  We had total of 8 bites, 2 on tuna and 6 on Blues.  Raised a 500 class and another 300 that came off, but got the right one to stick.  She ate the long corner bait and after 17 minutes or so, we let go a 750 class Beautiful Kona Blue Marlin.  One fish like this is worth the 18 days of trolling, actually it's worth the year.  Seeing a fish of this caliber is always special for me.

Team Bad co on the move. Kona--San Diego

Summer is heating up, season in full swing soon.

The first Blue Marlin on the Rybo was caught by Ron Ashimine, the estimated weight was approx. 450lb.  Gene Vanderhook on the Sea Genie II wins the FireCracker with  638lb Blue Marlin on the second and final day.  Mcgrew Rice on the Ihu Nui wins the World Cup with 732 lb Blue, taking approx. half million in winnings.
