Adding rod holders to Parker leaning post
Hi gang,
I recently added 3 rod holders to the leaning post on my 23 ft center console Parker. The rod holders that I purchased are the Taco model 2623. They clamp on with stainless fasteners and are extremely secure. The rod holders do not inhibit access to the bait tank. They work as additional rod storage while running and are also great for holding the bait net or pliers while fishing. They will really come in handy for drop back rods during marlin season and could also be used as a fifth trolling rod holder for putting a jig down the center of the pattern. If you are interested in making this or other modifications to your Parker you can call Sundance Marine at 619-226-3737 for information. You can also contact me at Fisheman’s Landing Tackle at fishing@saltwatertackle.com

Did you use any rubber padding or tape under the clamps? I want to add these to my post and have seen some people put them on directly without protecting the stainless. Any suggestions? Thanks for the post.

The Taco rod holders come with a rubber gasket that seats between the leaning post and the clamp on the rod holder. I can't tell you how useful the rod holders have already been. If you are down at Fisherman's Landing I will show you the boat.
Thanks for the question, Doug |
