Just when you thought you had seen it all…We were fishing the Bisbee’s Black and Blue the first day of the tournament. After all the pre-fishing, tournaments, and networking, we had come to the conclusion it was going to be a tough year for us. We’d been fishing a stationary body of water for a week, (which had been there longer) and had seen a couple good fish come out of it. The first day of the tournament it moved 12 miles. Luckily, it set up on the bottom edge of a bank that holds big marlin.

On our second pass we hooked a pretty good fish–not the winner for sure–but a money fish. It screamed over 100 yards of line and I felt we were in business. I turned around to disengage the synchronizer, and when I turned back it appeared the fish was off. In reality, the fish had turned around, swam to the other side of the boat and eaten another lure, screaming line again. Once again the fish came off, and only after retrieving the 2 lures did we figure out what had happened. The hooks from the second lure pulled the firmly-embedded hooks out of the Marlins mouth. They came back stuck together hook to hook.

There were some good quality marlin caught this year, fish in the 600# class. It was awesome. Congratulations to the teams that caught them. Anthony and his Team had a very good Mexico season, catching a lot of quality fish and placing high in a couple of tournaments. Congratulations guys! Usually things slow down this time of year, but not this time. We’re excited about taking delivery of 3 Viking Sportfishers in the next 2 months–the Bad Company Editions. Totally set up for west coast-style fishing. These boats are fast, agile, and with lots of bait, and great visibility, will be available exclusively through the Crow’s Nest. We also have a boat headed to Panama right now with Pete Groesbeck, Chad Herron, Elisio and Sama on board. Looking forward to checking out the new turf. Andy Horner and I are holding down the fort locally and will be heading to Panama in the winter. Can’t wait for next year…
