Last day of fishing before we take our first few days off. Wife and kids are already in town. Anthony, OB, Joe, myself and Jerome Judd are out looking for a fat one. I have been grinding up some areas that we have raised a couple good fish in. I have a lot of faith in this zone. It has great structure and in a uphill current it looks like the best on this coast. Our friend Chip has raised a good one 2 days in a row in this zone. I am about 2 or 3 miles south of where Joe was fishing. I am starting to bend it a little more south when Joe yells "This is the one we've been looking for" and runs off the bridge. I look back at the stinger and see this wave of water crash on the longest lure in the pattern. Anthony takes the rod and climbs in the chair, buckles in and it falls off. Took maybe 100 yards of line, just wasn't hooked. I start short tacking the zone. Each tack stretching it out just a little more trying to find her again. After about 10 minutes she eats the short corner and falls off. Then just outside the long rigger there is this wave being pushed by an enormous fish. It stays there for maybe oh.......2 or 3 lifetimes and goes away. I am grinding it up with more intensity and several boats notice and head our way. I tack inside and a boat goes outside. The fish eats him. He's on. The fish jumping is throwing water as big as the boat that just hooked us. This fish is huge. We are like a half mile away and this fish is putting on a show. Berserk. Afetr about 20 minutes it comes off but what a show. The Capt., Jason, said it was much bigger than a 930# fish he had caught in the past.
Start again on Monday. Gettin closer. Fishing has slowed way down
