After 5 days of grinding up the the middle of the Pacific, along the lee side of the big island of Hawaii.  We lost 2 fish today, one early in the morning that was a nice one, it came up on the stinger and crashed into a circle of jumps, I got in the chair and witnessed a 400 to 500 class blue loosing it's mind jumping in circles.  Got strapped in and just as fast as chaos started, the fish is gone.  Got another bite later in the morning and came in early at 2 pm to finish up some boat work.  I think Steve, OB, and Joe now have 17 Blues in 11 days of fishing.  Our hook up ratio was great in the first week, but now odds are catching up with us some for the second week.  Missing some nice fish.

Ron is coming in tonight, getting ready for a BBQ.  It's been pretty hectic around here, leaving the house at 6am and getting home around 6pm.  Run around with the kids for a couple of hours, prepare and eat dinner and crash in bed to get some rest.  Kona won the world cup last year, hopefully another Kona boat will repeat it this year.  Tracy Melton is in Madeira, that place is biting like mad.  So that spot of the world will be very tough competition, Tracy got I think 5 over 500 in 3 days of fishing, plus 2 big eyes at 200 lbs.  pretty sick.

I've had the chance to spend the last 5 days with Captain Bart Miller.  For those of you that may not know Bart and his accomplishments, you should look it up, I've never meet a fisherman that is as focused, competitive, and intuitive as Bart.  He is one intelligent fisherman, everything he says is from not only 30 plus years of fishing hard, but it is from a man with a extremely high IQ.  These are all the same qualities that make Steve Lassley great, they are just smart people.  I have no doubt these guys would succeed at anything they want to do in life.  They just love fishing so much to do it for a living, their main compensation is the fishing.  Period.

I'll need to gather my thoughts and write about Bart in a separate post.  I've heard so many awesome stories, it's hard to get my little brain around it.  Very awesome experience.

Ok, got to go.  BBQ time.
