After 4 months of jousting with all parties involved, we are finally making progress on bringing Badger home for the necessary repairs. Although I'll hold the details for discussion for now, it is vital that we get not only a best in class operations involved along with Viking's engineering team to perform and complete this project. It looks like we are finally making progress on a boat we've had a growing love affair with, she is truly indeed a special boat. Elisio has been washing and waxing her constantly while she is dry in the Cabo yard.
Now it's a mad rush to get her up hill on a barge. Yes, a barge! Then we will have only weeks to do the work before the Show (Bisbees Black and Blue). Steve will be in Kona for 2 more months, Pete is standing by to manage this project along with Viking. We'll keep all updated, never a dull moment around here! Just got back from NY in town for the weekend to enjoy fathers day, off to Viking on Monday for it's annual dealership meeting in New Jersey and Kona on Thurday for 6 weeks. Will provide a report on the Viking trip when I get settled in Kona.
Happy fathers day to all.
Go Team!

Well...things are changing daily. The barge idea did not work, although we accepted the whooping 125k to tow up hill. We could not find a crane in Baja that was large enough to load the boat onto the barge. So now we found a ship with the help of Viking with its own crane, but the boat will need to have a "hot patch" so that it can be put back in the water, then loaded out by the harbor entrance onto the ship. Should be ok with the Jones Act since we are loading in one country and dropping off in another, the destination is SD. All parties are ready for the project, including Viking. This has been one long road, we are all hoping for smooth execution at this point. ETA is end of July, that gives us only weeks before Badger needs to be ready by October's tournaments.
Wish us luck and thanks for all the support. |
