April 25th, 2009. We held a birthday party on the Pacific Provider for my 5 and 7 year old girls, it was a great turn out as 200 plus gathered on a beautiful sunny day in San Diego's Kona Kai marina. The day started out a little breezy, by the early afternoon the wind back off for a perfect day to introduce over 100 kids to fishing and ocean adventures. I know there is at least a dozen in the group that will grow up completely hooked like me, it was exciting to see the kids (and many adults) packed the back of the PacPro to catch fish. The bite was surprisingly great, with halibut, sand bass, barracuda (even legal ones), topped by a whopper 19 lb butt that a 6 year old caught.
We also had 3 Contender running around all day taking kids out in San Diego bay, the tournament 25, Knock Down 31FA, and the 38 Express--showing them seals, Submarines, SS Midway and the E-ticket ride of a boat running at 50 plus. Inside the Provider, we had stuffed animals, Princess Belle (after all, it was a girls birthday party), a treasure hunt, and a cartoonist drawing the guests. Overall it was a perfect day for kids, great way to introduce them to the wonders of the ocean.
I like to thank Captain Rich on the PacPro, Rich is a true professional and was just as excited as I to see all these kids excited about the ocean. All the kids were helped and taught by Steve Lassley and Pete Groesbeck, little did they know they were being coached by 2 legends in the sport. Steve and Pete were amazing, tieing on hooks after hooks. The back rail looked like Annie B or the Isle of Redondo for those old times that remember the fishing barges. The event turned out great, my assistant Cece did a fantastic job putting all the vendors together. Thank you Rich, Cece, Steve, and Pete. Also to those that helped early morning starting at 7am to help get things going, it was all worth it to see kids enjoy the day.

Fun day...nice location...great company... and now I have my three boys "hooked" on fishing. Nash, Ian, and Henry all call Barracuda and want to go fishing daily now... asking if we can go out BEFORE school. Love the fact that it was a girls party.
Thanks for including us. Peter & Stephanie Macdonald (and our three punks) |

Awesome Day Hsieh Family! Thank you for including us. CJ held his first fishing pole, gave it a quarter reel and touched a halibut! More importantly he is too young to ever say "Dad can I have a party like Cousins Amanda and Sarah!!
Thank you |

Another great event on the Pacific Provider. 100 of the best behaved kids ever. It was an incredible experience, thanks for including us. One question, we would like to have Steve and Pete bait hooks and tie knots at our birthday party too, can we arrange that?
