Slow fishing, week top by Marlin Parker with 940lb Blue Marlin
We had a blast last week! Although the week was slow for the fleet, and slow for us. The mystique of Kona continues with Marlin Parker landing a 940lb Blue Marlin while next to us by the grounds off the airport. This is the draw of Grander ally, it's one of the most unique places in the world for trophy hunting and at ANY given second your fishing career can change with a lifetime fish. Trophy hunting takes commitment, time, and most of all patience.
We ended the week with 4 confirmed blue bites in 6 days plus a couple of other mystery bites. None stuck for us and the weather was bumpy for Kona standards, this is the first trip that had Steve at the wheel since Randy has moved over to my good friend Alan Stuart's program (Wild Hooker and Strong Persuader), both Randy and Alan are first class people, a great program in Kona.
As much as I enjoyed my time with Randy in Kona, fishing with Steve is always a gas. Can you say wound up? Since the Badger is still out of commission and the discussions with insurance is on-going, our tentative summer plans has Steve in Kona for about 80 days.....from Mid June to late August. I'll be there fishing about 30 to 40 days, Ron another 15 to 20 days, plus our usual guests and friends filling the rest of the days. Nai' will be very busy along with OB and Steve for the season. I hope we see (and catch) a few nice ones..
Looking forward to the season.

Guys fishing off the rocks of the harbor entry at 6am.

OB setting the pattern early. Pretty magical feeling.

Steve in the gyros. That's Will from Kaenon, who plans on fishing from his Ski this summer in Kona. Hopefully he will provide us some adventures of monster Blues from his ski!

Nice short bill for dinner.

Gene on the Sea Genie coming out at 6am. Another classic Rybo.
