Hi Gang,

It's been a while since I have reported any Parker adventures.  We have had a nice local winter in 2009.  It started with the pre-fishing for the San Diego Angler's Bay Bass Tournament.  We had a nice 10th place finish out of 150 teams.  We just can't seem to win that sucker but we will keep trying.  Next we had some great cod fishing for reds on the local banks.  The highlight of the season so far has been the trip to La Jolla during the squid run in February.  We boated 4 out of 5 hookups on large yellowtail.  Our smallest weighed 30 pounds and the big one was just over 40.

During the entire month of March we do the Fred Hall Tackle shows.  The shows this year were very good.  I think everyone is starting to live their lives again and in my opinion we are at the leading edge of a recovery to this recession.  The intense atmosphere at the shows leaves you drained and in need of some saltwater theropy.

On Wednesday we decided to hit the San Diego Bay for some bonefish.  When we target the bones we always take ghost shrimp.  They will hit the plastics from time to time but the ghost shrimp are almost a must.  The wind was up and our drift was against the current which is never good, but we were able to fish none the less.

We had some pretty good action for 3 hours catching bonefish, croaker, turbit, and a bunch of spotted bay bass.  Mostly we were just happy to be out on the water.  This is our biggest bonefish, an 18 incher caught by my co-worker Carl.

After fishing we really roughed it by stopping by the Ferry Landing at Coronado Island for a nice lunch.  We did a quick clean up on the boat and felt relaxed for the rest of the day.

Now that the shows are over and the season is coming you should be hearing more Parker Adventures from me soon.

Take Care,
Doug
