Surprisingly, a record turn out for this years little Bisbee's with 69 teams competing in this 2 day tournament.  Most  that fish in this tournament usually will be participating in the Black and Blue since most are here and pre-fishing anyway.  The water conditions has improved since Hurricane Norbert last week, water is still very streaky but more fishable.  Spoke to Wayne Bisbee today, he indicated that the entries for the Black and Blue is 10 boats ahead of pace compared to last year.

Only 2 fish weighed in today, one by DORADO 7 that did not make the qualifying 300 lbs.  The other was the veteran champion AFTER MIDNIGHT with the owner Mike Cromer in the chair.  The fish weighed 385 pounds and took the first day's dailies.  Mike Cromer is no stranger at the scales, he has won and placed in many tournaments, including winning the Bisbee's Black and Blue.

Our 2 teams continue to fish well, all is upbeat and very positive on our fishing each day.  Just waiting for our turn....

Day 2 Mid Day Update
Team BOTTOM LINE is on the way to the scales with a big black estimated at over 500 pounds.  Team AFTER MIDNIGHT claimed $93,000 in day one jackpots for their fish yesterday.
The weather is beautiful but very hot.  Still time left for a big one for our teams.

Day 2 sees unbelievable finish to end this tournament.  Out of nowhere, the boat MARLIN MASTER 1 calls in a hook up about half hour before lines out at 5pm, none of us thought very much of this.  They ended up boating the fish about an hour later on what we assume to be light gear (50W class reels with 80 lb line) and call in to tournament control about coming to the scales.  We seen this fish on the back of the boat while it passed us in the marina while we were cleaning up, we must have not got a very good look at it and thought to ourselves that Bottom Line's fish at 510 lbs will win.  A few minutes later, tournament control announces this Blue Marlin at a whopping 870 lbs.  This i  the largest fish in tournaments here since the 993 Blue caught by Picante in 1994 and the second largest marlin in Cabo tournament history.  Pretty darn exciting if you ask me.  510lb Black any other day would have been the winner.

Just got back from the awards dinner, hard to believe that a 510lb Black marlin wins only 7k, the winning Dorado won 50k with even the second largest Dodo winning 21 Grand.  The 870 blue got 114k and After Midnight about 100k.

Oil changes and maintenance tomorrow, will fish half day Tuesday before the Black and Blue registration.  Then showtime!

Seen pics of the fish this morning (Monday), She has a very odd body shape, small head and only a 14 inch tail (granders are 18 to 20), but the body looked like a python that swallowed a pig.  FAT!  makes some sense since it was caught on an old 50W with 80 lb line and light drag, fish's body was under powered with that small tail.  The story from the winning boat MARLIN MASTER 1 was that it had only one lure in the water when she hit, not sure if that was true or not but sure makes for a good fish story.  there you have it...
