Almost show time. Starting to feel the electricity in my veins.  All the best teams are showing up. Game faces on. Constant buzz and commotion on the docks as the biggest money tournament in the WORLD is about to get under way and we are a part of it. What a rush, total, 100%  pure adrenaline. You are charged up enough having one of these turbo charged monster Blue or Black Marlin on  the line. ( Nothing tears up the ocean like one of these fish, nothing). You can have 40#'s of drag, the line can be pointed straight back off the stern of the boat and the fish can be up jumping 300 yards off your bow, still burning line off the reel at an alarming rate. Then you add  the numbing fear/exhilaration of having a Million dollars jumping around on the end of your impossibly small line. One bad move driving and you'll be known as chopper the rest of your life. Talk about having your heart in your throat. It doesn't just feel like a hairball, it's the whole damn cat. Heat, humidity, hurricanes it all takes it's toll. What a Buzz.

I hope we are prepared. We have been down here 5 days now and all we have been able to do is rig and re rig tackle. We pulled all the Striper gear off, took off the rocket launcher and brought on the big gear and chair. (5) Penn 130's and (1) Penn 80 as a pitch rod. The Release chair went on and all the Tuna Tubes went in. We spooled up all the new reels, tied all new knots and spring scaled all the drags. We made 30 or 40 hook sets, live bait and lure. Skirted about 10 new lures. We discussed strategy and tournament rules. Timed the flow on all the tanks and tubes. All the maintenance and pre-tournament service is done. Drew all the contour lines on all the plotters. Lined up all of our bait supply. Bought all of our supplies. Talked with all the guys we are working with. We did a lot of work. The only thing we didn't do........FISH.  I might as well have been tied up to the repair barge in Avalon. Hurricanes suck.

A buddy of mine got out late today and couldn't find any water anywhere. We haven't been able to get any imagery because of the heavy cloud cover. Nothing. 95% clouds everywhere we need to fish.

Tomorrow and Tuesday are going to be the only days we can pre-fish then we go into 5 straight tournament days of fishing.
This is usually the most brutal time of the season. Non stop fishing at Catalina through those Tournaments, then the delivery, then 28 straight days here of hard fishing. Usually DEAD A-- tired. Not this year. All rested up. Feeling like a wimp. Not only don't like it, I hate it. I love that feeling like you are giving it your all, dead tired, keep movin on will power till it's over. Come up with some schools and a good game plan you have put together because of all the hard work. Thats the way I prefer. I like to figure out volume and direction. I'ts hard work not done this year. We couldn't.

Looking forward to the next couple weeks, hopefully we can put it together.......We are ready.

I love this time of year. Big fish, fierce competition (many of the best teams in the world) and big money. Only one thing would make it better......... .............. Maybe a couple more tournaments.
