For those of you that have kids, heck even if you don't.  The bone fish in San Diego bay is a total blast!  They hit like at Mach 5 speed and rip drag from light spinning tackle, we've caught them on every outing this summer.  Usually in only 2 hours on a rising tide, we will catch and release between 10 and 20 fish with triple and quad hook ups and all chaos breaks out.  I've lost a few rods with my kids not holding the rods tight when the bone fish hits, they really do bite and take off at Mach 5 speed.  Watching a rod rocket in the air and seeing the faces afterward is priceless.

Our tackle is 4 to 6 lb light spinning tackle with ghost shrimp as bait being best, but I have found regular cooked shrimp at the local grocery store works also for times that you don't have the time to go pumping for ghost shrimp.  Both Mission Bay and San Diego Bay still have plentiful ghost shrimp available, remember you need a fishing license to pump.

San Diego Bay is ideal to introduce kids to fishing, the water is calm and the action is none stop with multiple species.  Halibut, spotted bay bass, Corvina, Yellowfin croakers, assorted bay shark and rays.  if your interested in specific information on location, bait, tackle, etc.  please leave a comment and I'd be happy to email you details directly.  My kids are constantly asking me to take them bone fishing, the short boat ride, calm water and the constant action is custom tailored for children.
