Hard to believe, but another local season is over.  The year started in Panama, a June Loreto Trip, Kona in June and July, local waters in August and September, now it's the world biggest tournament in Cabo for October.  As Steve mentioned in his post, we had a great year locally with 49 fish in 23 days of local fishing.  We ended up winning both the Zane and the ABC, and first on releases in the Classic.  Nice local season...

Now away goes the swim step (we hate that thing, but needed for the measuring of fish during the Catalina tournaments), bow casters are removed, cockpit rocket launchers, and 50 class trolling gear are all gone.  Here's comes the 11 tuna tubes in the transom, full 130 gear with Penn's, Release Marine fighting chair, and a dozen light rods to catch tunas/skippies for the tubes.  Gone is the long Fishworks nylon pants and thermos, replaced by shorts and flip flops....and lot's and lot's of suntan lotion!  Zuckers 3.5 are put away for the Super-Plungers.

Badger is now getting some boat work done in Newport (6 month and 1100 hours already), will head down to SD for engine maintenance work on Monday, then she's off to continue her duties in Cabo.  First tournament is the Los Cabos Billfish on the 14th, followed by the Bisbees Offshore (we call it the little Bisbees), then the granddaddy of them all, the Bisbees Black and Blue.  There is a 4th tournament this year called the Governors cup following, we may find ourselves fishing this new tournament also.  We will see how everyone feels after a very long year, usually by the time the Black and Blue is over, all of us are ready to get on land for awhile and stop fishing.

Ron is going down this weekend to do some pre-fishing with Chad and Elisio on the Viking 60BCE-107 (blue boat name Crows Nest).  Ron has had an unbelievable year with 19 blues and Blacks caught already, with many over the nickle (500 lb) mark.  With a little luck down in Cabo, we might be able to get him to finish around 25 or possible even 30 for the year.  That would be outrageous.

The Kona boys will all be flying to Cabo in the next couple of weeks.  Randy, OB, and Kevin with Tracy (meltdown) Melton in from California.

Lookout Cabo, here we come..
