We went out on an afternoon run from Point Loma on my 21' Parker and after loading up with bait at the Everingham Brothers receiver headed southwest outside the 9mile bank and started trolling. Hit several paddies for nothing then found a school of pacific white side dolphin and trolled through them- they were moving fast and hard to keep up in the breezy weather- and hard to relocate when we hooked up. The yellowfin tuna we caught were 20# on a certified scale- very nice fish. All came on trolled fish trap plastic. 1 1/2 ounce lead head, channel islands chovy or purple haze color. It must be the 5" inch size as that is the one that has the thin tale and trolls best- troll with no larger than 40# test and way back behind the boat, at about 5mph. I also heard they were hitting cedar plugs trolled far behind the boat. There were also several paddies in this area holding lots of very small dorado that we released.
