Very good offshore kelp paddy fishing.
Here is a breif summary of the trip.
Friday, August 1:
6:15 - Start trolling outside and just below the Banda Bank.
Stopped on 3 paddies and had limits of yellowtail (18 to 20 pounds)and dorado (15 to 20 pounds).

Released twice as many of the smaller yellows and dorados by 8:30pm.

8:30 - After limits start heading down but decide not to go to San Martin because we have gone through half our bait.
Continue to stop on kelp paddies releasing all the yellows and dorado.

Troll all the way down to Colnett.
5:30 - Anchor up for the evening. Caught 5-6 inch greenies up to 11pm.
Saturday, August 2:
6:15am - Start working our way up the coast looking for seabass. Some calicos and rockfish only.
11:30am - Head out to our numbers the day before at 30 knots.
1:00pm - Back in the area. Same story as the day before - lots of yellows and dorado under the kelp paddies.

Release the majority of the fish keeping only the big ones.
6:00 - Anchor up at Tree Sisters inside Punta Banda for the evening.
All you want on the 5-6 inch greenies up to 10pm.
Pete gets up at 4am to catch 9-12 inch greenies. Couldn't wake up anyone else so Pete filled the tanks by himself.
Sunday, August 3:
6:15am - Head out at 30 knots to just below the 425.

Pete had reports of some albacore so we decide to box the are for a 2 hours - 3 albacore 18-22 pounds.
9:30am - Pete also had reports that there were marlin on the 9 Mile bank so we leave the area and start trolling up. Outside the Coronados we pick up a nice 15-16 pound yellowfin as we continue to troll toward the 9 Mile Bank.
2:3opm - Talk to Barry on Contender One. Barry is out on a trip with a couple oy guys from the LA Rod and Reel Club. We pass some mackeral over to Barry in a black trash bag filled with water and air.
About an hour later Barry hooks a fish in a group of feeders. Watching Barry through the gyros - was like watching a ballet - when he spun the boat on the feeders, gragged a rod form the holder, ran to the bow and literally dropped the bait off the bow.

I believe we baited two or three with no takers.
6:30pm - Back at the docks at Crow's Nest
