It's been a week since we've been here in Kona, the season here is a bit unique as the quantity of fish is noticebly lower than years past.  There are a few trophy fish around, but not as many for what we like to see for July.  So hopefully with the full moon coming up this Friday, a few more big girls will show up in our patterns.  Last year we had over a half dozen fish over 500, including 2 at 700, and one at 900.

Steve is in Kona with me and helping work the cockpit the last few days, he got back from bring the Badger back last week.  They caught some bad weather on the trip north, the boat handled very well in the rough seas.  Prior to that, we had 2 very special guests from Viking--Andrew and Jason riding/fishing from Loreto to Cabo.  Badger is getting some warranty work done, hard to believe that she has already logged over 4,500 nautical miles.  Starting August, we start getting into local Marlin mode since the first of the local tournaments starts in early September.

Also back at home, Barry reported the Contender 38 even with the full tower and three quarter full fuel with new props reported 55 MPH.  Can't wait to fish on her in local waters in August and September when I return.

For Bisbees this year, we've decided to fish 2 Viking 60's.  The blue hull inventory boat currently in San Diego Crow's Nest will be our second team boat in addition to the yellow hull Badger.  Last year we had our Hatteras 55 and 60, which are sold.  A new twist for us this year is the additon of a mother ship...the Pacific Provider, a 160 foot private member yacht club.  A Yellow and Blue Viking 60 will be side tied to the mothership during all the tournaments in Cabo this year.  It will be interesting to get all the conveniences of a mothership, meals, laundry, parts, bait, fuel, etc. will all be provided by the PacPro.  For more info..visit www.epyc.com.  There will be a mad rush to get the Blue Viking ready to go in time for October, gear, tackle, rods and reels...tons of stuff to get ready.

Also this week, the final name of the Rybo was selected.  Randy and Ob had the last pick, an eblast will be going out in the next few days.  We had a whooping 400 plus names suggsted, thank you to all that put in the time to help us pick a name for this very special Rybo.  By the way, she is getting bit very well here thus far, fingers crossed...

in the middle of all this, we are at the final stretch of signing our largest sponsor.  A 4 year deal that will set a new standard for west coast teams.  Bill DePriest from PCS came out to Kona and fished with us for a few days, what a great young man.  We really enjoyed having him, he took some shots that I post below..

There is no doubt the season is in full swing.
